Pub Manager

Location: Brockweir, Wye Valley, near Chepstow
Contract: Fixed-term contract, initially 6 months, extendable by mutual agreement
Pay: Fixed hourly rate plus profit share
Start date: To be agreed (expected mid/late August 2026)

The Brockweir Inn is looking for an enthusiastic, capable and community-minded Manager to help bring a much-loved local pub back to life.

The Inn has recently become a community-owned asset, with a clear mission: to return the Brockweir Inn to being a cornerstone of the community, strengthening local connection, resilience and cohesion. As our inaugural Manager, you will play a central role in shaping the pub’s character, standards and day-to-day operation from the very beginning.  

This is a rare opportunity for someone who wants more than a conventional pub management role. We are looking for someone who can run a welcoming, commercially sound pub while embracing the spirit of a community-owned enterprise.

The role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Brockweir Inn, including customer service, staff and volunteer coordination, stock control, supplier relationships, compliance, cash handling, opening and closing routines, and helping create a warm and inclusive atmosphere for locals, visitors and supporters.

You will work closely with the Brockweir Inn Community Benefit Society Management Committee, helping establish the systems, culture and offer that will support the Inn’s long-term success.

There is the potential for permanency as the long term Tenant in due course for the right person, subject to the pub works completion. 

We are looking for someone who is:

• Warm, practical, reliable and people-focused
• Confident managing a busy hospitality or customer-facing environment
• Commercially aware, with a good grasp of costs, margins and service standards
• Able to lead by example and motivate others
• Organised, calm under pressure and comfortable taking responsibility
• Community-minded, collaborative and sensitive to the role the Inn will play locally
• Excited by the opportunity to help shape a newly reopened community pub

Previous pub management experience would be ideal, but it is not essential. We would also welcome applicants with strong transferable experience from hospitality, catering, events, retail, community enterprise or another similar hands-on management role.
