Our mission is to return the Brockweir Inn to being a cornerstone of the community.
This pub is an anchor that ties the community together, increases social resilience and community cohesion.
The best way we can achieve this is to buy the pub and run it as a community-owned business.
We will run initial public meetings, questionnaires and focus groups to enable as many people as possible to have their say. We need to ensure that our plan reflects the needs of the community and has the local backing required.
Pool together all the pledges, donations and offers for support to put forward a viable plan.
Launch the share plans and grant applications to finalise and secure the funding we need.
Secure community ownership and ensure access to a local pint for the foreseeable future!
Throw a bash or two in honour of our big community win.
Commence renovation funding plans, including further share offers, grant applications, community events etc
Using initial funds to obtain all surveys, designs etc, obtain all required planning consents
There's work to be done before that first sip. Introduce sub-committees, continue to raise renovation capital and call on the offers of support to turn this into a great little pub again.
- Enabling works and basic pub operations (Feb 2026 to Summer 2026)
- Renovate new community room and area, and gardens (April 2026 to Summer 2026)
- Install kitchen (Summer 2026 onwards)
- Complete upstairs rooms (Autumn 2026 onwards)
First and foremost, a place to socialise and spend time together.
Along with the future tenants, we hope to work out offers to members of the community such as half price lunches and coffee mornings to combat social isolation and the cost of living crisis.
A multi-purpose, accessible community space which can facilitate meetings, community support offers, crafts and other activities run by
community groups and individuals.
Events such as music nights, quizzes, talks and games nights that will bring the community together.
